LOUISIANA'S SCHOOL CHOICE PROGRAMS:

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL CHOICE IN LOUISIANA!

Tuition Donation Credit Program (Tax Credit)

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

  • Students are eligible if their family income does not exceed 250 percent of the federal poverty level

  • Students must be entering kindergarten, have attended a public school in both semesters during the previous year, or have previously received a scholarship.

ENROLLMENT: 2,524 students (2022-2023)

Student Scholarships for Educational Excellence Program (Voucher)

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

  • Students are eligible if their family income does not exceed 250% of the federal poverty level and either attend a designated public school, are entering kindergarten, or were enrolled at a public school in the Recovery School District

ENROLLMENT: 5,541 students (2022-2023)

School Choice Program for Certain Students with Exceptionalities (Voucher)

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

  • Qualified students will have a learning exceptionality, an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), reside in a parish with more than 190,000 residents, are eligible to attend a private school, and are not deemed gifted or talented.

ENROLLMENT: 428 students (2022-2023)

Louisiana Giving All True Opportunity to Rise (LA GATOR) Scholarship Program (ESA)

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

  • The LA GATOR program will be implemented in three phases
  • Phase 1: Only students who have previously received a scholarship from the Student Scholarships for Educational Excellence program in the previous year, who are entering Kindergarten, who attended a public school in the previous year, or who from a family with a household income of less than 250% of the federal poverty level (~$78,000 for a family of four)
  • Phase 2: Phase 1 eligibility qualifications remain, except the income threshold is increased to less than 400% of the federal poverty level (~$124,800 for a family of four)
  • Phase 3: Eligibility opens to every student in the state. Priority is given to students with disabilities and students with a household income of less than 250% of the federal poverty level.

ENROLLMENT: Program begins in the 2025-2026 school year
