PROGRAM — Louisiana Scholarship Program

My name is Natalie Andrus. I have three children, Marus, Marley and Ma’Kye Andrus, attending Family Worship Christian Academy, in Opelousas. This is their third year attending school there with scholarships from the Louisiana Scholarship Program. This program has been a blessing to my family as it allows my children the chance to attend a private school that I couldn’t afford. We are zoned for a school that was the lowest gradeschool in the parish, and it recently closed. My kids love going to school Family Worship Christian Academy, and I am glad I was able to choose for them to attend.

My reason for applying is really because of my oldest son. He wasn’t getting the time from teachers and the support he needed to succeed at the previous school. I tried everything, including tutors, programs, phone apps, you name it. He was in a class of 35 second graders and the teacher couldn’t get anything done. Needless to say, the entire class had to repeat 2nd grade. I felt like I had failed him. I heard about the scholarship program through a friend, so I applied and my children were accepted.

Here we are three years later, happy as ever and grades are excellent. The teachers at Family Worship Christian Academy are excellent and patient. This is an amazing school, and we love it. The small classes and the fact that it’s so family oriented always makes us feel at home.  Thanks to this program, my kids are able to receive the best education possible.
