PROGRAM — Traditional Public District School

I became an educator because when I was in school I saw how some of the teacher’s taught us. I really liked that the teachers were helping us and cared about our progress. I decided to become a teacher because I want to help someone’s child like I was helped. It made a difference in my life, and my dream came true.

I love teaching at Bastrop High school, but what I love most are my dear and precious students. It’s like another part of me away from home. My students are so sweet they’re always telling me what a great job I’m doing with helping them learn. I explain to them that it’s my job, and I love what I do. Maybe one day some of my students will become teachers and help others as well.

“Children need to be in a school that will strengthen them and not one based on their parent’s income.”

It is important that all families, regardless of income, be able to choose the right school for their child. When a student is attending school where they really don’t want to be, they’re not going to put their best foot forward. Children need to be in a school that will strengthen them and not one based on their parent’s income. What should matter most is how the student performs and learns.
