PROGRAM — Louisiana Scholarship Program

A middle age Sunday school teacher at my hometown church inspired me to become an educator.  She was an amazing teacher’s assistant who was in school to earn her teaching degree, and she was very passionate about students’ learning. Whether it was in the classroom or at church, she made sure you knew what she was instructing. This was certainly a real inspiration to me, and she is one of the major reasons I pursued a teaching career. Her ability to lead students, her fairness, and her sense of justice made me aspire to bring these things into my own classroom. I enjoy seeing my students engaged in their lessons and activities by communicating with their peers and utilizing their creativity.

I LOVE teaching at Redemptorist St. Gerard Elementary School because of the excellent reputation it has for outstanding leadership (principal), academics, family oriented, community network and the quality of education. Students are challenged to push themselves, and the abundance of assistance with any difficult classes show that the school gives the students the opportunity to succeed. Redemptorist is also well known for their school activities and how well parents are active in their children’s education.  I believe that is one of the most critical aspects of a successful education. The teachers here are passionate about what they teach, and it shows with performance and the improvement of “test scores.”

It is important that all families be able to choose the right school for their child, regardless of income, because some schools are not a good fit for students. It’s important to make sure that the school your child attends is the best fit for the long haul. Your child will grow and develop in that school, and you want to be aware of how the school will change over time.

All parents want their children to succeed in life, and that begins with enrolling them in the right school environment. There are many factors that go into a positive educational experience. Knowing that their education is more than just filling their head with knowledge, you want to research all possible school routes. The school they attend will need to speak to them in their language, and tap into how each student learns. It will need to discover how your student best responds in stressful situations and be able to walk them through it. Most importantly, the school selected must have the up most values as it will shape the child’s character.

Redemptorist St. Gerard Elementary is a private school that offers smaller class sizes, more individual attention, and a better understanding of how each student prefers to learn. This allows the teacher to take time and cater lessons to teach in a more personal way.
