This scholarship helped me choose my education. My mom and I decided to get me a private tutor. I get distracted fast and having a one on one learning environment with no distractions helps me out a lot. I am learning to read and write things that in the past I didn’t even know existed. I got diagnosed with leukemia right before the new school year, and this scholarship has helped me to stay safe in a learning environment that works for me. This year would have been even harder if I had to do everything online through Zoom! Thankfully, I still do in-person school learning day by day.

This was the best decision ever, on top of going to school, my teacher makes learning super fun. Some days we cook to learn math. When I am really tired and stressed because of the treatment, we just read and my tutor helps me to find ways to relax. Even on slow days like this, I am still learning more instead of losing those years of school because of my cancer.

“Every child is different, everyone has a battle every day, everyone should be able to pick their school because they each have individual needs.”

Every child is different, everyone has a battle every day, everyone should be able to pick their school because they each have individual needs. Everyone learns differently, some need more help than others, not every teacher has the patience and tolerance for kids in unique places. We should be able to pick what’s best for us and what’s the best way to learn, and where we feel most comfortable with the people we surround ourselves with daily! Everybody should be able to pick a school depending on their needs and the need of their kids. Education it’s the key to success and we  should be able to go to a school that teaches the best education and life skills for our needs.
