I was being bullied badly in the sixth grade. Within my first semester, I received four black eyes and a bloody nose. No one at the school said anything to my mom. She was furious. She started to look into other options for my education but she couldn’t afford to send me anywhere else. When she found out about the voucher program, and after talking to the principal at Evergreen, we secured an emergency transfer. I am so glad I was able to go there. The teachers are so amazing.

“It’s not fair to tell a kid and their family that because they are poor they can’t go to a certain school.”

Families should be able to send their kids to a school that’s good for them, no matter what, because sometimes they just need a smaller school so they can learn better. It’s not fair to tell a kid and their family that because they are poor they can’t go to a certain school. All kids should be allowed to go where they fit well.
