PROGRAM — Children's Scholarship Fund

Growing up in a Hispanic household with Spanish as your first language it’s always hard for you to adjust in school. Though my parents tried, I was still based in English as a Second Language (ESL) for my elementary years of school. I strived to learn the huge amount of English I know today.

It wasn’t always easy at school, with kids making fun of my accent, however, it was all worth it in the end. In seventh grade, I was granted a scholarship up until twelfth grade. This meant keeping up with my grades while still being involved in extra curricular activities. The scholarship helped my family greatly with extra school expenses. Even my books were covered!

I can’t stress enough how important my scholarship was. It took me to a great high school and even better college. I’m so grateful for the opportunity I was given.
