I send my two daughters to private school because one of them was not happy in public school and was afraid of being bullied. Her old school is well known for that.
I did what I could to send them to a magnet school, but we never received any notification if they could attend or not.
The first year my daughter went to that public school, a neighbors daughter was bullied, and my daughter was terrified that she would be bullied too.
My other daughter is very quiet because she has learning problems and does not advance as fast as the other children. I asked her teacher how I could help her with reading and mathematics, the subjects she was struggling with, and they only told me to take her to a tutor. That did not solve anything, so she fell behind, and they just continued to graduate her to the next grade.

Without the Opportunity Scholarship, it would not be possible for my children to attend and thrive at their private school. The scholarships are important and essential because it leads to a better future for our children, and they are our future. We, as Hispanics, have almost no access to these scholarships and opportunities because it is not common for us to know about these options. It is a huge blessing that I found out about them and we are able to use these scholarships.
I would tell Nevada legislators to please support this cause because it is a massive benefit for our children. We need these scholarships to ensure our children are successful in their futures.

Los mande principalmente por mis dos hijas, una de ellas que ya iba a ir a la Middle School y no estaba contenta, tenía un poco de miedo por el bullying y esa escuela es muy conocida por eso.
Hice lo que pude para mandarlas a las escuelas Magnet, pero no me daban respuesta.
Por lo tanto, el primer año fue a esa escuela pública y a la hija de una vecina le hacían bullying y ella (mi hija) decía que tenía mucho miedo por temor a que a ella también le hicieran bullying.
Mi otra niña era muy callada por que estaba teniendo problemas de aprendizaje en el sentido de entender lo que le estaban enseñando, no avanzaba rápido como los otro niños y yo le preguntaba a la maestra como le podía ayudar a mi hija con lectura y matemáticas por que esas eran las materias con las que estaba batallando ella y solo me decían que la llevará a tutoría y cuando llevaba después no me llamaban y no me resolvían nada, entonces ella se iba atrasando pero si la iban avanzando de grado.
Sin la beca esto no sería posible para mi porque yo no trabajo fuera de la casa, yo me quedo en casa con los niños y mi esposo es el único proveedor económico.
Son importantes y esenciales prácticamente por que es un mejor futuro para nuestros hijos y ellos son nuestro futuro, nosotros como hispanos casi no tenemos acceso a estas becas, a estas oportunidades por que no es común saber de estas opciones yo tengo una bendición enorme por que ellos están aquí y sigan.
Mi niña la mas pequeña estaba muy callada por que le daba pena que se rieran de ella si contestaba mal la pregunta y le hacían burla y aquí no pasa eso, aquí se siente bien está alegre, participa en las clases y ya está al corriente como debe de ser.
Yo le diría a los legisladores de Nevada que por favor apoyen esta causa porque es un enorme beneficio para nuestros hijos, tal vez para los hijos de los legisladores no lo sea pero para nuestra comunidad hispana si lo es porque la comunidad hacemos lo mejor que podemos pero en muchas ocasiones no es posible económicamente.
