PROGRAM — Charter School

I was a teen mother and found myself married at 15 and a dropout of eighth grade. After 10 years of marriage and five young daughters I was told by my now ex-husband that I’d never amount to anything. I started to volunteer at a school where the principal took upon herself to send me to GED courses then college. Here I am 25 years later. If I can do it anyone can.

Learn4Life a second chance school. Teen parents can bring their babies and learn while taking care of them. Students come in for four hours a day. They have a choice to come from 8-12 , 9-1, 10-2 or 12-4. My school gives them the opportunity to change their story daily.

I think it’s important that low income students go to the school of their choice because not every school fits well. For instance ours is four hours a day and it’s a small second chance school, where other schools are a full eight-hour schools. Our students have a chance to go to work following the school day. Not every school offers that. Our school is also smaller and offers students a one-on-one experience.
