PROGRAM — Private

I started Marian high-school in the fall of 2017. I remember how nervous I was; it was my freshman year and my first time in a private school. I knew no one and wasn’t quite sure who believed in me. I struggled to find a reason to stay at Marian, until half way through the year when I found out I received two scholarships.

I was so shocked to find out that, not only one, but two different people believed in me so much that they gave me hundreds of dollars to attend high-school. This changed my outlook on everything. Before this, I saw Marian as a private school my mom forced me to go to. I hated it and I refused to embrace the opportunity presented to me. Now, I regret that I didn’t open my eyes to this amazing school sooner.

During my sophomore year, my mental health really started to take a turn for the worse. I stopped going to class, I was depressed, and couldn’t find a way to talk to my parents. One day my counselor called me and asked me why my grades had changed so much. I opened up to her and she helped me talk to my parents. The amount of support I received was unbelievable. I can confidently say that I wouldn’t have received that support if I went to a different school.

The scholarship money I received allowed me not only to find drive within myself but also to find support in my community. I can’t express how thankful I am to everyone who donates money for children to get a better education. Your school really becomes your family; they help you grow and find yourself as a person. Everyone there helps mold you into who you will become one day. Every scholarship allows a more positive environment for children to grow. No amount of thanks can ever fulfill its impact.
