PROGRAM — Ed Choice

I have three children and I’m a single mother. I used the Ed Choice scholarship in Ohio for my three children. The turning point for me was when my oldest son came home from school one day and said to me, “Mom, we’re learning the same things we learned from last year.” I thought, that’s not okay.

Through a friend at church, I found out about the scholarship. I knew that where we were the schools were in a failing status, so it was a perfect opportunity. As a single mom, the scholarship really helped me monetarily because otherwise there was no way I could afford making the tuition payment.

All three of my children went on to graduate high school and two are in college now. I know the scholarship also made a difference in their confidence and that someone cared enough to make that extra step and do the research to find a different place for them.

I want to thank people like Virginia Walden Ford for the work that they do. Because of her, millions of children have been affected. Her persistence and fight for a common right for proper and equal education.
