PROGRAM — Educational Improvement Tax Credit

All three of my children attended private school. Today, my daughter is a college graduate; my middle son attends Penn State University; my youngest son is in high school.

I struggled as a single parent to make sure each child’s tuition was paid on a yearly basis. So school choice is important to me, and I’m sure it is to other families as well, because I struggled. It’s very difficult to pay tuition for three children.

Without the tax credit program, private school would not have been an option for my family. We live in an area where the school district is failing. It’s important to teach my children about God, but education is second. I know they need that in order to be productive and contributing citizens to this country.

As parents, we know what is best for our students and what learning environment is best for them. It’s important for parents to be involved in their child’s choice of school rather than school just being assigned by ZIP code.

The current school system does not work for all kids. In areas with school choice, families have been empowered to make a vital decision for their children and that autonomy should be available to all families.
