American Federation for Children Celebrates with New Mexico Families as Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham Opts into Education Freedom Tax Credit
DALLAS, Texas – The American Federation for Children celebrates with New Mexico families at the news Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) will opt the state into the federal Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC), opening new educational opportunities for families.
With the governor’s decision, more than 310,000 New Mexico K–12 students could be eligible for scholarships, and more than 698,000 of the state’s taxpayers can claim the credit.
Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, American Federation for Children:
“We applaud Governor Lujan Grisham for putting New Mexico families first and embracing an opportunity that could benefit more than 310,000 children across the state. Educational opportunity should never be a partisan issue. Her decision recognizes that every family deserves the freedom to choose the educational environment that best meets their child’s needs, and we hope more governors will follow her lead.”
