AFC Celebrates the Confirmation of Linda McMahon to Lead the Department of Education
The American Federation for Children (AFC) commends Senate leaders for confirming Linda McMahon to serve as the 13th secretary of the Department of Education.
Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, American Federation for Children:
“I commend the U.S. Senate for confirming Linda McMahon to serve as the 13th – and last – Secretary of Education. This vote is the beginning of the end for one of Washington’s greatest policy failures: the centralization of American education. Walter Blanks, a school choice recipient, and I were in attendance at McMahon’s confirmation hearing, where she made a compelling case for the type of reform our nation’s education system so desperately needs. She is the right leader to work with President Trump to lead us out of an undeclared state of emergency across our K-12 system. Principally, we must work together to make school choice and education freedom a reality for all families, especially lower-income families, across the country. Congress needs to pass the Educational Choice for Children Act, which Secretary McMahon and President Trump support.”
