New TSU Polling Shows Widespread Support for School Choice Among Texans
Dallas, Texas – Texans broadly support education savings accounts, newly-released statewide polling from Texas Southern University’s Barbara Jordan Institute shows.
The poll, conducted in February on 1,200 registered voters, found that 63% of Texans support universal ESAs.
When given the choice, respondents supported a school choice program for all students over a program specifically targeted to low-income students (63% to 45%).
The polling results demonstrate what should be crystal clear: Texans across the political spectrum support ESAs. Broken down by political party, 78% of Republicans, 64% of Independents, and 46% of Democrats support school choice for all families.
Support for school choice among Black, White, and Latino Texans was 69%, 62%, and 59%, respectively.
