My journey as an educator began in my younger years! I always knew teaching was calling my name. I loved to talk! I loved to help others. I loved to show people how to do things I had learned. God had instilled in me a desire to teach even at an early age. After my bachelor’s degree was completed in business education, I taught in public high school for 19 years. Then the Lord shifted me into private education and led me to start a small Christian school for our community.
Our small private Christian school has a vision to strengthen our students academically as well as in their faith. With anxiety and mental health concerns on the rise, many of our children need more one on one help in smaller settings as well as wise counsel from a biblical perspective. We have seen students grow and thrive in both academics and faith overcoming the burdens of this world! It’s a blessing and honor to help students who have fallen down one way or another be able to be equipped and nurtured back to life! Confidence grows, strength returns, and hope arises in hearts where love and healthy relationships abound!
Our side of York County is a low- to middle-income area with a great need for K12 scholarship funds like the Education Scholarship Trust Fund. Most of our families cannot afford private education and have nothing to sacrifice to make it possible, as it takes all they have to make ends meet. With school choice funds, not only are children able to enter environments where each can thrive, but families are being restored when children don’t struggle with schoolwork or school life.
School choice is a MUST for our South Carolina children! Our state educational system is in great need of more schools to share the load. Many teachers and staff work hard in our state to reach our children so they can have a hope-filled future, but our kids are unique and one system simply cannot meet ALL the needs that exist among our them. It is past time, as more than half of the states in our country have been doing this for a decade or more! Let’s ALL work together to prioritize the needs of our children in South Carolina!
Thanks, and God bless!
