A scholarship has helped me and my family in ways I never would have imagined, beyond the financial support. It allows me to attend a high school that best fits my learning style and goals – putting me in an environment where I would want to be in and feel comfortable.
Having a scholarship gives me a form of motivation to wake up every week to go to school and make sure I can maintain this scholarship to make my parents proud and not have to worry about anything.
I chose Xavier High School in New York City because compared to the other high schools during the open houses, I felt like Xavier’s Manhattan location, teaching, staff, environment, programs, and sports fit me best. My brother also attended Xavier, and I look up to him because of it. I can see how it turned him into a wonderful young man. The difference it made in my life is indescribable. I’ve become more mature, respectful, and kind. I am committed to being “a man for others.”
Every family, regardless of income, should be able to choose the right school for their child because every child should be able to go to a school where they are most comfortable in, whether that be academically or socially. And to receive an education that provides for a child’s needs and growth. The right school will affect a child’s whole future positively. The right school will give the child the ability to succeed, thrive, and grow as a student and person. This is why all families should be able to choose the right school for their child.
