PROGRAM — Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit, Lindsey Nicole Henry Scholarship

Shelli Thomas is the Division Head for Trinity School at Edgemere’s Upper School. Trinity is a private school that educates students with learning differences, each according to their specific needs, in a supportive and encouraging environment. Most students are supported by Oklahoma’s school choice programs, including the Lindsey Nicole Henry Scholarship, Equal Opportunity Scholarships and the Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit.

Trinity School at Edgemere is a school for kids in grades K-12 with learning differences. At our school, we help children that have had difficulty in other school settings. At Trinity, we can give them more individualized attention.

I am excited to go to work in the morning and just see the kids. I know kiddos that have been here from kindergarten through 12th grade and that is a gift. It’s a blessing because you get to see the beginning to the finished product, and then they come back and see you. It would make me sad to think if Trinity wasn’t here for these kids. It would completely change a lot of our kids’ trajectory.  We give them the strength they need to believe in themselves.

By allowing children to have these choices with their personal, individualized education makes our state a better state. It makes it possible to have more people in the work force and in our colleges that think differently than other people.

These children have a lot to offer our state and other states, but mostly Oklahoma. It says a lot about us if we take children with learning differences and allow them to get what they need. They will change the world.
