I am a Spanish teacher. As an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, I became a young man on the Northside of Houston and was incredibly fortunate to have had teachers that worked tirelessly to see me thrive. I am fortunate to serve a community that gave me so much during some of the most formative moments of my life.
YES Prep Northside values and cherishes community in a warm and nurturing way. Everyone knows and cares for each other in a very familial sense.
“..equity is inextricably linked to school choice and the right for families to educate their children where they best see fit.”
Our kids constantly exceed ours and their own expectations. Most of them come from immigrant families who understand, cherish, and value the diversity that each of their communities bring. Our school is a close knit community and we care for each other as family.
The right to an education is a foundational tenet of democracy. Our nation and its values are only as strong as its educational institutions. To that end, equity is inextricably linked to school choice and the right for families to educate their children where they best see fit.
