By receiving a scholarship, I was able to attend Good Shepherd School, located in Inwood, Manhattan, New York. This would not have been financially possible for my family. Because of this support, I attended a much smaller school with more academic resources. Resources such as greater access to teachers and individualized learning allowed me to take my education seriously. The challenging academic environment pushed me to stay organized, complete assignments early, and set higher goals for myself. Not only did the scholarship provide my family with financial relief, but it also opened doors that shaped my academic career.
All families should be able to choose the best school for their child because every child deserves to have their needs met. One specific system would not be able to provide enough support for the wide range of families and children. By giving parents the ability to choose a school that aligns with their child’s needs, they are able to prioritize their child’s learning style, abilities, and interests. This flexibility improves a child’s overall development and academic performance.
