I became an educator because I believe in the power of meaningful connection and the magic that happens when a child feels truly seen. As the mother of two polar opposite children, I knew I wanted to be the kind of teacher who made every child feel known, valued, and inspired. Education is more than academics; it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and character. I became an educator to create that kind of space for children.
I love that Lucas Literacy Lab feels like home for both the students and their families. Our school is filled with warmth, laughter, and genuine connection. We’ve built strong partnerships with parents, working together to support each child’s growth in a Christ-centered environment that nurtures both heart and mind. I especially love our farm program. Every Thursday, we head to Legacy Riding Stables, where students care for animals, ride horses, and explore nature. These hands-on experiences help bring learning to life and connect our kids deeply with God’s creation.
It’s essential that lower-income children have access to schools of choice because every child deserves an education that meets their unique needs, not just the one assigned by their zip code. When families are limited by income, they’re often forced to settle for schools that may not serve their children well, academically, emotionally, or spiritually. School choice empowers parents to find environments where their children are seen, supported, and inspired. It promotes equity, opens doors, and offers real hope for a better future. At Lucas Literacy Lab, we see how transformative it is when children, regardless of income, are placed in a setting that honors their identity and gifts.
