Ryan Cantrell serves as Director of State Strategy and Political Affairs. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2008 from Faulkner University, where he was also an All-Conference, All-Region golfer and President of the Student Government Association.
Prior to joining AFC, Ryan was the Senior Director for Charters, Choice and Political Engagement at the PIE Network, a national network for education advocacy organizations. Ryan has served on numerous political campaigns at the state and congressional level in Alabama. He also worked doing policy and research in the Office of President Pro Tempore of the Alabama State Senate, Del Marsh. Ryan previously worked as the Alabama State Director and Regional Advocacy Director for AFC.
He is a die-hard college sports fan (War Eagle!), golfer and avid book reader. He currently resides in Montgomery, Alabama with his wife, Logan, and three children, Hampton, Sophie and Weston.
