AFC Hires Sean Clifford as President of AFC Scholarship Fund

The American Federation for Children is excited to announce it has hired Sean Clifford to serve as President of the AFC Scholarship Fund ahead of the 2027 Education Freedom Tax Credit launch. Sean has spent two decades launching and leading organizations in education, technology, and public life. He most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer at Tikvah, where he led efforts to advance classical education, and before that, built and led Canopy, a tech company for families.

In his new role, Sean will serve as our primary ambassador and strategist for the scholarship fund, overseeing strategic direction, growth strategy, and partnerships, along with managing the day-to-day operations necessary to ensure the Education Freedom Tax Credit reaches as many families as possible, as soon as possible.

Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, American Federation for Children:“The Education Freedom Tax Credit is a generational opportunity to empower parents in every state to enroll their children in better schools — and we are fully dedicated to its success. We are thrilled to welcome Sean to the team to head up this critical work. In launching the AFC Scholarship Fund, we will ensure school choice succeeds nationwide, and we are building a world-class team to oversee its growth. The EFTC represents a once-in-a-generation moment, and we are excited to have Sean at the helm as the AFC Scholarship Fund meets it.”
