AFC Celebrates Resounding Election Victories
Dallas, TX – The American Federation for Children is thrilled to announce education freedom victories throughout the 2024 primary election season, with school choice champions widely reelected and opponents defeated from coast to coast. The 2024 election cycle marked the first national engagement for AFC Victory Fund, AFC’s affiliated Super PAC, a powerful new force in legislative races across the country. As the 2024 primary elections draw to a close, parents are making their voices heard loud and clear. During the 2024 primary election season, AFC’s political affiliates spent more than $9.5 million across 15 states, ultimately defeating 67% of incumbents targeted (compared to the national average win-rate of 5%). Additionally, AFC ensured that pro-teachers union forces did not pick up any new seats in states that passed school choice legislation in 2023-24. Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, American Federation for Children: “The 2024 primary elections prove the school choice era is here to stay. For a generation, conventional ‘wisdom’ held that opposing schooling union bosses was the surest way to end a politician’s career; the 2024 election cycle has proven the opposite is true. There’s no safe space for politicians who ignore parents, as voters in rural, suburban, and urban districts have made their voices heard loud and clear. “We pledged that if you’re a candidate or lawmaker who opposes education freedom, you would be a target, and if you are a champion for parents, we’ll be your shield. Our political affiliates did just that in the 2024 primary election cycle, and we are thrilled to see state legislatures across the country continue to advance school choice in the coming session.” |
