AFC Celebrates ESA Program Launch, Applauds Comptroller Hancock for Strong Start
Dallas, Texas – September 1st marked a historic milestone for students in Texas as the state’s new Education Savings Account (ESA) program officially took legal effect, ushering in a new era of expanded educational opportunity and parental empowerment.
The Texas Education Savings Account (ESA) program, signed into law earlier this year, allows families to access state-funded accounts to help cover tuition, fees, textbooks, tutoring, and other approved educational expenses outside the traditional public school system.
We would like to express our gratitude to Governor Abbott, legislative leaders, and Comptroller Kelly Hancock for their strong and consistent support of school choice in Texas. Their leadership has been instrumental in ensuring families across the state will soon have greater access to educational opportunities that best meet their children’s needs.
We especially commend Comptroller Hancock and his dedicated staff for the excellent work they have done to implement the program to date and for developing the first iteration of program rules. Their thoughtful approach has laid a strong foundation for what promises to be a transformative program.
