PROGRAM — Charter School

Why did you become an educator?

I became an educator because I truly believe that education = opportunities. I had several teachers growing up whose passion instilled within me a deep love of learning, and that love of learning has opened up so many doors for me. I want to offer the same thing to other students.

What do you love about your school?

My school may lack resources, but we make up for it in heart and spirit. We truly are like family, and we push each other to be kinder, better, and more curious. Our students are full of love and life, and there is never a dull moment.

Why is it important that lower income children can attend schools of choice?

We all know that the ways in which district lines are drawn lead to incredibly discriminatory practices in zoning and distribution of funds. Many public schools in lower-income areas are under-funded, under-staffed, and over-crowded. If students can have the choice to attend a school that better fits their needs and opens more doors for them, they will live the life they deserve.

Anything else you’d like to add?

School choice has been poisoned by greedy politics in the pst, but I believe change can happen.
