PROGRAM — Charter School

Alexander is always smiling, ready and willing to learn new things. He likes shows called Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. He can tell you what is going on in the shows even though there are in Japanese.

We chose this school for my child because my son was being bullied at the school and they used his IEP as a punishment. He would come home bruised. One child hit him below the belt and slammed his head onto the desk, and told the teacher “it was an accident”. The teacher didn’t do anything to the offending child but sent Alex to the nurse. We did not find out about the incident until he came home after school.

The new school is awesome. Alex has made new friends and is not afraid of his classmates bullying him. Second, they don’t use his IEP as punishment. Third, they have gone above and beyond to make sure the students and staff have everything they need for remote learning.

“The difference school choice has made for my child and family is that he is not afraid to go to school anymore. “

The difference school choice has made for my child and family is that he is not afraid to go to school anymore. We enjoy hearing about what he has learned in the classroom and when he was in karate he was excited to tell us about what his sensei taught him.

Everyone should be able to choose the school their children go to. The schools would have to figure out why they are losing support and have to address the issue. The message I want to leave for everyone else is going to be this. Do not be afraid to look into other schools. A lot of them tell you you can’t move schools but take the time to look into it you may be surprised at what you find.

School choice means the world to us, he is excited to go to school again. He has friends that like him for who he is and not because they have to be nice. He has finally been invited to several birthday parties and will be inviting several of his friends to his birthday party.
