Based in Washington, D.C., John Schilling provides counsel to the organization’s leadership and leads AFC’s federal work as a senior advisor.
John is AFC’s former President and has been with the organization and its predecessor since January 2007. He has worked in the education reform movement for 24 years and his previous experience includes four years as Associate State Superintendent and Chief of Policy at the Arizona Department of Education and Chief of Staff for Education Leaders Council in Washington, D.C. John has extensive experience in politics and state government. He is a former Research Director at the Republican National Committee, and served in senior roles for two Members of Congress and two state governments. John graduated in 1986 from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
