James Klein is a national director for the American Federation for Children, helping the Federation’s state-based teams execute legislative and electoral advocacy strategies and spearheading training programs that advance educational opportunities for children all across the country.

Prior to joining the Federation, James served as a consultant for a public affairs firm, where he executed strategies and programs for candidates seeking every office imaginable, including 3 presidential candidates, 9 governors, 29 U.S. Senators, and more than 60 members of Congress. Additionally, James was the lead mail and mobile strategist for the nation’s largest education reform organizations and assisted in the legislative takeovers of the Maine Senate and Minnesota House of Representatives in 2010 and 2014.

James received degrees in Economics and Political Science from Denison University and earned a Masters in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University.

He and his wife, Liz, reside in Jacksonville, Florida.
