School Choice Supporters Victorious in Legislative Races Across the Country
The American Federation for Children, the nation’s voice for educational choice, congratulates the dozens of winning candidates who support educational choice on their successes in the 2020 election. Tonight’s election results are in line with numerous political polls that have found strong support for school choice.
Statement from John Schilling, President of the American Federation for Children:
“The results of yesterday’s election confirm what we have known for a long time – parents want leaders who will empower families, especially lower income families, to choose the best educational environments for their children. We are living in a time when the emergence of COVID has forced us to think differently about how we educate our students, and that has caused parents to demand more educational options than ever before. Congratulations to all the educational choice champions who were successful in their General Election contests.
“Resounding victories across key states have set the table for robust and productive legislative sessions in 2021. We are optimistic that parents will be determined to make their voices heard and we are hopeful that policymakers in both political parties will heed their calls to expand educational options and ensure educational opportunity for every child. We look forward to working with policymakers to give more families the freedom to choose the best educational environment for their sons and daughters.”
