School Choice Supporters Advance in Georgia Primaries
The American Federation for Children, the nation’s voice for educational choice, congratulates all the candidates supported by the Georgia Federation for Children Legislative Independent Expenditure Committee during Tuesday’s primary election. The Georgia Federation for Children Legislative Independent Expenditure Committee invested more than $135,000 in state legislative races to support school choice proponents during the 2022 primary.
In addition to strong victories achieved by school choice champions, Georgia GOP voters overwhelmingly approved a ballot question asking whether or not education dollars should follow the child if their zoned school is not a good fit. 79% of Republican voters said “Yes” in yesterday’s primary election, an increase from the 73% support affirmed by the same question in 2020.
Statement from Christy Riggins, State Director, American Federation for Children-Georgia:
“By advancing candidates ready to champion education freedom for all, Georgia parents made it clear that the status quo is no longer acceptable for families. Tonight, we’re happy to congratulate candidates who have won and continue to win by acting as a voice for the voiceless.”
