School Choice Supporter Wins Special Election in Georgia

The American Federation for Children, the nation’s voice for educational choice, congratulates Leesa Hagan on her victory in yesterday’s Georgia Special Election for HD 156. Hagan defeated Wally Sapp, earning 51.6% of the vote.
Statement from Christy Riggins, Georgia Field Director for the American Federation for Children:
“Coming out of a pandemic that has strained families and taken a toll on the academic progress of Georgia’s students, providing all kids with educational options has never been more important. By electing Leesa Hagan, a candidate who declared an unequivocal position in favor of students over systems, voters in Southeast Georgia affirmed that taking a bold stand for kids is a winning platform at the ballot box. We look forward to working with Leesa Hagan as she keeps her promise to help provide families with the highest measure of school options for Georgia students.”
