NEWS: Unified Committee to Improve Public Schools As a Result of Vouchers

RACINE – Unified is creating a Choice Committee to promote and expand student options in the district in order to keep students enrolled.

The committee is being started “in light of (school choice) voucher legislation” that this school year began allowing students to use state-funded vouchers to attend participating private schools instead of Racine Unified, according to Unified CFO Dave Hazen, who announced the creation of the committee to the district’s School Board during their regular meeting Monday.

Voucher advocates say vouchers improve all schools by creating a competitive environment, and it seems Unified is already working to step up its game.
