My son has ADHD and autism and suffered in public school. Not only was the school and district intentionally neglecting his needs by not providing him with any support, but they would complain to me that he needed extra support. I started to bankrupt myself and put myself and my family in debt for the sake of his education.

In an alternative setting – he is now thriving, but sadly I don’t know what I will do next year regarding his education. I am already barely scraping by, and with inflation, I don’t know if I can afford the month-to-month with this much longer. He has gone from not knowing a single letter or number to being able to add, know placements, spell, recite biblical verses, and do the scientific method along with fun experiments.

That’s why school choice is so vital. Educating your child how they need to be is essential for your well-being, your child’s well-being, and your overall family. As a parent with two special needs children, I can assure you that if I didn’t bankrupt myself into a massive hole of debt for my oldest son’s school this year, I truly don’t know if he would have survived this year because he was suffering mentally and physically. Families like mine should have access to their education dollars, so this doesn’t have to happen.
