In less than a month, hundreds of school choice activists, legislators, parents and leaders will converge at AFC’s 2015 National Policy Summit in New Orleans. Today, the American Federation for Children, the nation’s voice for educational choice, announced Gov. Scott Walker (WI) as the kick-off keynote at this year’s summit. Gov. Walker, who hails from the state with the longest running school choice program in the nation, the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, will speak at the opening lunch on Tuesday, May 18. Walker is known nationwide as a strong proponent of educational choice and has worked throughout his tenure as governor to expand educational options to even more of Wisconsin’s students.

“Gov. Scott Walker is a tremendous leader who has been a relentless advocate for educational choice,” said Betsy DeVos. “We’re excited to have Gov. Walker help kickoff our 6th annual AFC National Policy Summit.”

This will be Walker’s second time addressing the annual summit. Early in his tenure, Gov. Walker spoke at the 2011 AFC National Policy Summit.

“Every parent deserves the right to select a quality school for their child,” said Walker. “As Governor, I’ve put students and families first by empowering them to overcome the educational status quo to ensure every child can have access to a quality education.”

In addition to Walker, Summit attendees will hear from Mary Matalin and James Carville, Sen. Joe Lieberman, Jeff Sandefer and provided the opportunity to attend numerous break out panels. The 6th annual summit takes place Monday, May 18 through Tuesday May 19, 2015 in New Orleans.

Gov. Scott Walker was elected to office in 2011 and is currently serving his second term as governor of Wisconsin. He has focused on moving Wisconsin forward with his vision of freedom and prosperity for all. He has also continued to reform education, ensuring schools are held accountable for results and that they are preparing students for a bright future. Gov. Walker has placed an emphasis on public service throughout his career, previously serving in the State Assembly and as Milwaukee County Executive where he worked to reform the county government.AFC Summit Pic 1
