#GivingTuesday: Meet Mission Dolores Academy

Our first Giving Tuesday Focus is Mission Dolores Academy (MDA) in San Francisco, CA.

Mission Dolores Academy, located in San Francisco’s Mission District, seeks out promising children regardless of their family’s ability to pay full tuition. The average income of families at Mission Dolores is just $38,326 with an average household size of 4.5 people (the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in San Francisco is $4,555 per month). In a city that is facing widespread gentrification and cultural displacement, Mission Dolores boasts a student body made up 100 percent of children of color.

To help bridge the gap between what the school’s families can afford and the cost of providing their children’s education, MDA offers generous financial aid totaling nearly $300,000 annually. That financial aid is made possible because of generous donors like you.

This #GivingTuesday help MDA continue to reach kids who are traditionally underserved.

Here’s how you can help:

AFC fights for children across the country to have access to schools that are the best fit for them. It is our hope that eventually, educational choice programs will be available in every state to help children attend great schools like MDA.
