(April 4, 2013)—Mike McCurry, White House Press Secretary under President Bill Clinton and a veteran communications strategist, will deliver remarks at the American Federation for Children’s fourth annual National Policy Summit, to be held on May 20-21, 2013 in National Harbor, Maryland.

McCurry, who is a partner at Public Strategies Washington and Chairman of the Children’s Scholarship Fund, will discuss why he is involved in the battle to improve educational equality and opportunity for America’s K-12 school children.

“We’re honored to welcome Mike McCurry to this year’s National Policy Summit,” said Betsy DeVos, chairman of the American Federation for Children. “With his trademark wit paired with his extensive experience in political and corporate communications, Mike will be a fantastic and informative addition to our Summit event.”

In addition to his experience as White House Press Secretary, McCurry previously served as spokesman for the Department of State and director of communications for the Democratic National Committee. He also served as press secretary for the late Senator from New York, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who was an early supporter of educational choice.

The National Policy Summit is the nation’s premier annual gathering for educational choice advocates interested in the intersection of education, politics, and public policy. In addition to Mike McCurry, this year’s event will feature a series of addresses and panel discussions with elected officials, education reform leaders, pollsters, policy experts, and leading researchers. AFC previously announced that Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the Archbishop of Washington, D.C., will speak about the importance of educational opportunity for all children at the Summit’s opening luncheon.

The Summit will be held Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, located just outside of our nation’s capital.
