Alabama Voters Elect Educational Choice Candidates

Birmingham, AL (Nov. 4, 2014) – The Alabama Federation for Children, the state’s voice for educational choice, is pleased to call tonight’s election results a win for parents and educational choice supporters.

Despite the Alabama Education Association spending $12 million in the primary and general elections, voters strongly rejected the union’s agenda and supported pro-educational choice candidates. Tonight all of the Federation favored candidates prevailed.

The Alabama Federation for Children PAC, an affiliate of the American Federation for Children, supported 13 candidates in the general election, with all 13 winning their respective race.

“Tonight’s results send a clear message – Alabama voters strongly support candidates who embrace educational choice and innovation for families in our state,” said Ryan Cantrell, government affairs director of the Alabama Federation for Children. “Despite spending millions of dollars, defending the status quo in education did  not resonate with Alabama citizens. Congratulations to all of the candidates. We look forward to working to improve education for all Alabama students.”
