In Alabama, thousands show support school choice during historic march

Yesterday over 2,500 school choice supporters marched through Montgomery, Alabama led by AFC’s Kevin P. Chavous and civil rights leader Dr. Howard Fuller as a part of National School Choice Week celebrations taking place across the country.

Parents, students, teachers and advocates marched the streets of Montgomery to show their support for the Alabama Accountability Act, and demand more educational options and opportunity in the state.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the historic civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama where people marched and lost their lives to advocate for equal rights for every citizen. Today, we see a coalition coming together to march for the civil rights fight of our time – access to a quality education.

Educational choice has offered a lifeline to many Alabama students, but more can still be done to ensure every single child has access to a high-quality education.
