AFC-TN Congratulates Rusty Grills on HD77 Primary Win

NASHVILLE, TN — In last night’s special election Republican primary for House District 77, Dyer County Commissioner Rusty Grills, an avid proponent of giving families high quality educational options, defeated three other candidates with roughly 55.9% of the vote, according to the Secretary of State’s unofficial results.

Statement from the American Federation for Children – Tennessee State Director Shaka Mitchell:

“We congratulate Commissioner Rusty Grills on his impressive victory in tonight’s election. Throughout the campaign Grills talked about issues that resonated with his west Tennessee neighbors – lowering taxes, improving infrastructure, and, of course, an education system that meets the unique needs of every child. Grills made it clear that he supports policies that put the interests of kids and parents first, and that the need for educational options is not limited to our state’s urban areas alone. The voters of District 77 rewarded Grills for his principled stands, and we are proud to have supported him in this win. We look forward to his continued success in the general election and as a strong representative for West Tennessee in the General Assembly.” — Shaka Mitchell, Tennessee State Director, American Federation for Children
