AFC Summit to feature panels on federal policy and host state of Indiana

The American Federation for Children, the nation’s voice for educational choice, announces two panels that will be featured at its National Policy Summit, Monday, May 22 and Tuesday, May 23 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
One discussion at this year’s Summit will focus on federal momentum in school choice policy. Seizing Opportunity: Federal Policy to Advance Educational Choice in America will feature moderator, Derrell Bradford (50CAN), Pastor Gary Crum (Ellwood Christian Academy), Rabbi Mark Kalish (S4 Group), John Kirtley (AFC and Step Up for Students) and Joe McTighe (CAPE). With an Administration supportive of all educational options for children, this panel will focus on what can be done to facilitate an expansion of school choice across the country and what the implications are for the school choice movement.
Another featured panel is The Indiana Story: Innovating K-12 Education. Indiana has served as a model for innovating K-12 education with a flourishing statewide private school choice program and reevaluation of teacher training. Moderator Teresa Lubbers (Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education), Daniel Elsener (Marian University), Caitlin Hannon (Enroll Indy), David Harris (The Mind Trust) and Betsy Wiley (Hoosiers for Quality Education) will discuss what Indiana is doing that works and how reform can be implemented in other states.
“AFC’s annual Summit always features panel discussions focusing on the most timely topics in the school choice community, and this year is no exception,” said Tommy Schultz, communications director of the American Federation for Children. “Educational choice, both at the national and local level, has never been discussed more. We are excited to engage with thought leaders on the momentum of school choice across the country and celebrate Indiana as a successful school choice state.”
On-line registration for the AFC Summit closes May 15. Complete step 1 of registration to secure your spot. Also, please note, the Summit room block closes on May 5. Make your reservations today.
