AFC celebrates the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Washington, D.C. (Jan. 19, 2015) – The American Federation for Children, the nation’s voice for educational choice, released the following statement in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day from executive counsel, Kevin P. Chavous:
“Today we pause to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the sacrifices he made all in the effort to ensure every American has equal opportunity.
“While a great deal of progress has been made, the fight for equality continues in our nation’s classrooms, where millions of minority children attend an underperforming school. We must come together to honor Dr. King’s vision by challenging the status quo in order to provide every child access to a quality school through educational choice – the real avenue to equal opportunity.”
