“Last year, 1.3 million children dropped out of school, and U.S. students have flat lined on national and international tests,” said Betsy DeVos, chairman of the American Federation for Children. “It’s time to have a national conversation and no better time than as we look to 2016.”

“There is no question that for far too long the failing education system in America has not been given the attention a crisis of this nature demands,” said Campbell Brown, co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Seventy Four. “This summit is a unique opportunity to ensure education is a national priority as we head into 2016, and that we hear directly from the most influential voices in politics about their vision on how to fix this broken system.”

“The future of our country lies in our ability to ensure every generation receives access to a quality education. It’s time to set aside the rhetoric and have a conversation about results,” added DeVos.

American Federation for Children and The Seventy Four also announced the “2015 Iowa Education Summit,” a second forumin partnership with The Des Moines Register, which will continue the national discussion about America’s education system.
